About rear loudspeakers
The rear loudspeakers are attached to satellite speakers for a surround setup. They are also referred to as Surround loudspeakers or back speakers. Rear loudspeakers playback sound from a film, game or concert that should be heard from behind. In most cases, they play together with the subwoofer. In a 5.1 setup, there are two, in a 7.1 setup there are four rear loudspeakers. Rear loudspeakers can be constructed as either a direct emitter or a dipole loudspeaker. Dipole loudspeakers emit from the front and from behind and simulate a diffused sound, similar to cinema sound. They're available as wall loudspeaker or as column speaker.
